Bay Area energy leaders gather in Oakland for 2nd Annual LCEA Clean Power, Healthy Communities Conference

Clean Power, Healthy CommunitiesFollowing a successful first year, the Local Clean Energy Alliance presents its 2nd Annual Clean Power, Health Communities Conference, in Oakland on March 18.

This year’s theme is Community Power: Decentralized Renewable Energy in California. The topic is fitting given PG&E’s 2010 announcement of 10 rate hikes, and Marin Clean Energy’s successful battle against big utilities’ attempts to undermine their efforts to bring control of energy to the local community, and around the state of California.

Featured speaker, Angelina Glaiteva, chairperson of the World Food Council for Renewable Energy and founder of Renewables 100 Policy Institute, will deliver a keynote on the importance of decentralized control of power and energy resources to local communities.

Other featured speakers include:

  • Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin
  • Emily Gordon Green for All
  • Paul Fenn Local Power
