Earth Day 2011 – What will you do?

April 22 is Earth Day, and individuals, groups, organizations and companies world-wide will be celebrating by taking action and demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. In fact, people have already promised to commit more than 80,000,000 “acts of green.” What does that mean?

People are promising to do what they can to:

  • Reduce pollution and waste
  • Use resources like water, food and land more wisely
  • Educate others about the importance of environmental sustainability

Want ideas about what you can do on Earth Day?

Start by thinking about what you can do to reduce your impact and lower your carbon footprint. Check out the article 10 Simple Lifestyle Changes for a Lower Carbon Footprint.

The events are almost over in Oakland, one of the Top Green Cities in the U.S., but you still have a chance to join in on the action in Oakland and San Francisco.

Don’t live in the Bay Area or want to check out some ideas for action? Here are more events happening around California. You can also check out the Earth Day Leaderboard!

You’ll also find some interesting videos at EarthDay TV.
